Wellness Basics Sleep Aid is a non-prescription sleep supplement.  It was developed to assist people who occasionally struggle to fall asleep at night.  That said, it markets itself as being “maximum strength” and directly compares itself to Unisom pills, which are a sleep aid made by an entirely different manufacturer.

What Are Wellness Basics Sleep Aid Pills?

Wellness Basics Sleep Aid is sold in the form of liquid filled soft gels.  Many people feel that this format works faster than tablets, for example, and prefer it for that reason. The official description for this product calls it both safe and non-habit forming.

It is meant to be used by adults who occasionally struggle with sleeplessness.  That said, it is not meant for use to treat chronic insomnia.  There are many reasons that this may not be an appropriate product. This includes using it when sleeplessness is caused by pain or when it is the result of an underlying health condition.  It is also not appropriate when insomnia is caused by a side effect of other medications.

What Are the Wellness Basics Sleep Aid Ingredients?

There is only one active ingredient in this non-prescription sleep aid.  That ingredient is Diphenhydramine.  Each dose contains 50 milligrams of that medication.  That substance is also used as a type of antihistamine.  That said, one of its most common side effects is drowsiness, so it is also marketed as a sleep aid.

The manufacturer of this product claims that this ingredient in Wellness Basics Sleep Aid will allow you to fall asleep, remain sleeping, and wake feeling refreshed.

How to Take This Sleep Aid

The package for this product recommends that adults and children over the age of 12 years old take this product in the same way.  It should be swallowed whole with water at bedtime. Only one softgel is needed.

This product should be taken when you have at least 8 hours to sleep.  Taking it when you need to wake up and be alert in less than 8 hours can mean that its effects may not yet have worn off.  This can lead to grogginess in the morning and can make it difficult to get up and function normally.  It’s very important not to drive, operate machinery or do anything else in the morning that requires you to be alert until you know how you are affected by the Wellness Basics Sleep Aid medication.
